My last surf session at Ppass was incredibly memorable in so many ways!🤣🙈I had arrived at the pass this time on a friends boat,expecting small,barely rideable waves,only to be confronted with overhead aquarium like conditions & only a few surfers.🚤🌊🏄🏻‍♀️I was overjoyed and traded waves with my friend until near dark.Having suspected that the sunset was going to be pretty good we had stayed later than normal & slowly started to make our way home only to be treated to a spectacular picturesque sunset of many colours from pink to gold to yellow to orange and red,it truly looked like it had been created for us by a master painter!🌅It just kept getting better!So overwhelmed I thought I should have some shots with me in the foreground but then realised I would only be getting in the way of nature’s true beauty.🤣🙈After cruising around for awhile we realised it was time to get a move on,at full throttle the journey home should only take 20minutest.15 minutes into our return journey the engine died and the boat coasted to a stop...🤣⛽️🆘‼️Oops!🤷🏻‍♀️We had spent too long admiring nature’s show and had run out of gas.Luckily safely inside the protection of the outer reef,where there is little to no current,my friend grabbed the rope dived overboard and towed the boat to a nearby reef marker.🐸💪🏼👏🏼Having secured the boat to the marker we had time to enjoy the last light of the dying day,a truly amazing display!☺️ It was now completely dark and we could just see lights from the local village where we had been heading,grabbing our boards we decided to paddle home using the lights as a guide to our destination.Paddling over the shallow sections of the reef was made harder due to the thick prickly mats of seaweed,after a 30 minute tranquil paddle we emerged from the moonlit waters,boards in hand to the amazement of the locals who were busily preparing the nights Saku(kava like home brew).🤣🙈After a quick shower and with the help of the local family we towed the boat back to safe harbour & headed off for a well deserved veggie burrito at Mangrove Bar.I have to say our little adventure made the 🌅 and our epic farewell surf even more incredible unforgettable!🙏🏼❤

Even though there’s plenty of things to do on Pohnpei when the surf is small sometimes you have to spend time keeping your gear in shape. Those fun longboarding sessions at Ppass! This wave has so many faces... When small, it is a long ripable fun wave. You can even longboard it on those very small days. Around 4-5 ft it will become your dream wave!! 💙 You just wanna surf it all day. Around 6 ft it bare it’s teeth... You better put your game on! 💪🏼 Above 8-10 ft it is a totaly different story!!!!
